Short answer
Composite (resin) veneers are layers of tooth-colored material sculpted directly on the tooth to improve shape, color and size. They are less invasive and more affordable than porcelain, can be done in a few visits — ideal during a trip — and with good care last several years.
What are composite veneers?
They are cosmetic restorations made with tooth-colored composite resin. The dentist applies it in layers to the visible surface of the tooth, sculpts it and polishes it to the planned shape and shade.
They're used to fix worn teeth, stains that whitening can't remove, small chips, gaps between teeth, or teeth with irregular shape or size.
Composite vs. porcelain
Both are valid options; the right one depends on your case and expectations.
- Composite: done directly in the mouth, usually needs little or no tooth reduction, more affordable and easy to repair. It can stain over time and needs maintenance polishing.
- Porcelain: made in a lab, keeps its color and shine better and lasts longer, but costs more and usually requires more tooth preparation and a longer stay.
Micro smile design
A micro smile design is a more conservative version of a smile makeover: instead of full veneers, we refine edges or make small resin changes to harmonize your smile, usually combined with a cleaning and whitening. It's a good option when your teeth are healthy and you only want a cosmetic touch-up.
How is the procedure done?
It starts with a consultation — it can begin virtually before you travel — to review your teeth and gums and define what you'd like to change. Any decay or gum inflammation is treated first. Whitening is often done beforehand, because resin doesn't whiten afterwards.
Then the design is planned, the resin is applied in layers and polished. Depending on the number of teeth, it can be completed in one or a few visits.
How long do they last and how to care for them
With good care, composite veneers can last several years. Their lifespan depends on your habits, hygiene and maintenance visits.
- Brush and floss every day with a non-abrasive toothpaste.
- Limit coffee, tea, red wine and smoking, which stain resin.
- Don't bite hard objects (nails, pens, ice) or open packages with your teeth.
- If you clench or grind, wear the night guard you're given.
- Attend maintenance visits for polishing and edge checks.

No. Whitening doesn't change the color of resin, so if you want whiter teeth, whiten before the veneers are made.
